Lunch with an Old Bag began in 2009 and is an annual event held in support of The Prince’s Trust. It is the largest Prince’s Trust fundraiser held outside of London and is generously supported and hosted by James Thomson at his luxurious 5-star hotel, Prestonfield House in Edinburgh.
Bringing together many of Scotland's most glamorous ladies, known affectionately as 'Old Bags', this event was so named as a way of highlighting the unnecessary labelling that young people can experience so easily and how they are subsequently unfairly assigned to categories they do not fit.
Since its inception Lunch with an Old Bag has raised nearly £3million for The Prince’s Trust, meaning it has directly helped more than 2,980 young people in Scotland.
In 2012 Adam & Company became one of the primary sponsors, which involves participating in planning, through the event’s committee, and shaping the success of the fundraiser. Involvement with and sponsorship of such an important charity event enables Adam & Company to support an initiative of interest to our diverse client base as well as help to nurture local communities through the outstanding work of the Prince’s Trust.
Our work with Lunch with an Old Bag goes beyond an association for just one day each year. Adam members of staff have been included in The Prince’s Trust ‘Get into Work’ programmes and have witnessed the success and transformation of the young people being supported by such initiatives.
This year’s event was a resounding triumph; celebrations included fantastic entertainment and money-can’t-buy auctions. In previous years guests have been entertained by high profile Prince’s Trust ambassadors such as Lulu, Jason Donovan and Russell Watson. This year was no different with Bryan Ferry performing many iconic hits to a delighted crowd.
With 2016 being the 40th anniversary of the Prince’s Trust, levels of generosity were even higher than usual and the day’s fundraising totalled £759,000- beating 2015’s record by £200,000.
Adam & Company are proud to sponsor and support an event which directly supports some of Scotland’s most vulnerable young people.
